Hello all! Isla Media are back with a bang in 2021 and we promise to make an active effort with our Blogs from now on. Here’s one from a recent video production project with The iNUA Collection to kick start things off again!
The iNUA Collection approached us at Isla Media in February 2021 ahead of the hospitality sector reopening post lockdown to work with them on a video production project. Their aim was to produce a series of video content for two of their hotels – The Fairways Hotel Dundalk & The Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel.
These videos would focus on promoting/marketing staycations within Ireland and focus on capturing the experience you can expect while staying at each of the two hotels. The video content was specifically targeted at couples looking for a weekend break away and families looking for a fun adventurous experience.
In advance of filming at either hotel it was important to work with iNUA to understand their vision for these videos. We arranged a video call via zoom to discuss the project in detail and from here we were able to create a full shot list for each video. These shot lists are a very important part of pre-production and outline our intention for every shot we plan to capture while filming and provides a clear flow for how the videos would ultimately turn out. Once the shot lists were signed off by the iNUA team we developed a full shoot schedule to ensure we could be as efficient with filming as possible especially when we would be working with young kids who would be sure to get tired as the days of filming progressed.
Over the course of 5 days we had the pleasure of filming a wide range of video footage and locations across both hotels capturing the friendly staff, fantastic amenities and fine dining as well as some of the many attractions in the nearby areas such as Blackrock Village and Slieve Gullion Forest Park near the Fairways and Ballykeefe Distillery & Kilkenny City near the Hibernian.
Considering both hotels weren’t operational for the duration of filming due to lockdown it was for sure a challenge to make them look busy. We had to get creative with our camera angles and focus our attention on the details while utilising the minimal staff as extras. In the end, we’re super happy with how the videos turned out and don’t think you’d notice the lack of guests.
Some footage didn’t make the final cut in the main videos but this gave us the opportunity to create a series of supporting content using the additional video footage. In the end we were able to deliver 4 main promotional videos with 12 shorter targeted supporting videos. All delivered in 16:9 (Widescreen) and 1:1 (Square) formats to suit all social platforms and websites.
You can take it from us that it’s definitely worth a trip away to either hotel. All staff were super friendly and accommodating to us for the duration of filming and made us feel right at home. A massive thank you once again to James Gleeson of the Kilkenny Hibernian and Siobhan McTigue of the Fairways Hotel Dundalk for their amazing hospitality!
